Disclaimer & Terms for Bike and E-MTB Hire from EDGE Cycling

By hiring a bicycle or electric mountain bike (E-MTB) from EDGE Cycling, you acknowledge, understand, and agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Assumption of Risk

Cycling, and particularly mountain biking and E-MTB riding, is an inherently dangerous activity. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with riding, including but not limited to accidents, serious injury, death, and damage to property.

2. Experience Requirement (E-MTBs)

E-MTBs are only available to experienced cyclists. By hiring an E-MTB, you confirm that you are confident and competent in off-road cycling and understand the additional weight, power, and handling characteristics of electric mountain bikes. EDGE Cycling reserves the right to refuse hire if experience is deemed insufficient.

3. Inspection Responsibility

You are responsible for inspecting the bike or E-MTB before use and confirming it is in good working condition. Any existing damage or mechanical issues must be reported to EDGE Cycling before leaving. Failure to do so will result in the bike being assumed to be in perfect condition at the start of hire.

4. Safety & Conduct

You must wear appropriate safety equipment at all times, including a helmet. You are responsible for riding in a controlled, safe, and responsible manner and for obeying all park rules, trail regulations, and local laws.

5. Strict Prohibition on Jumping E-MTBs

Jumping, dropping, sending, or intentionally riding E-MTBs off features or terrain that lifts both wheels off the ground is strictly prohibited.

E-MTBs are not permitted to be jumped under any circumstances. Any evidence of jumping, misuse, or aggressive riding will result in full liability for all resulting damage, regardless of intent.

6. Condition on Return & Full Financial Responsibility

You must return the bike or E-MTB in the same condition as it was hired, excluding reasonable wear and tear.

You are fully and financially responsible for any and all damage incurred while the bike or E-MTB is under your care, including mechanical, electrical, structural, or cosmetic damage.

This responsibility applies regardless of cause, including accidents, rider error, trail conditions, or misuse. All repair or replacement costs must be paid in full.

Riders over 100kg are strongly recommended to hire full-suspension bikes. Damage caused due to inappropriate bike selection remains the responsibility of the hirer.

Broken frame replacement cost: 1,000 AED (minimum).

7. Example Damage Costs (not exhaustive)

The following are example costs only and do not limit your liability:

o Bent or broken rear derailleur hanger: 100 AED

o Damaged or broken saddle: 200 AED

o Missing or damaged helmet: 200 AED

o Damaged wheel: 400 AED

o E-MTB motor, battery, frame, or electronics: Cost charged in full at repair or replacement value

8. Personal Property

EDGE Cycling accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings while using hired equipment.

9. Age Requirement

You must be 18 years or older to hire a bike or E-MTB. Riders under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and may be restricted from E-MTB hire at EDGE Cycling’s discretion.

10. Indemnity

You agree to fully indemnify and hold harmless EDGE Cycling, its owners, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, damages, injuries, losses, or legal actions arising from your use or misuse of the hired bike or E-MTB.

By hiring a bike or E-MTB from EDGE Cycling, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted all terms above, and that you accept full responsibility for the equipment while it is under your care.

If you have any questions, they must be raised before hire.

By signing this agreement on behalf of a group, including family members or friends, you confirm that you are accepting and agreeing to all terms and conditions on their behalf without exception, and you accept full responsibility for ensuring their compliance with this agreement.
